Tips & tricks
What is worth knowing right now. Before release that means preparation and pattern-reading from previous games — clearly labelled as such, not dressed up as inside knowledge.
- 01
Two protagonists means two inventories
Every mainline GTA with more than one playable character has kept weapons, clothing and money at least partly separate. Assume what you buy on Jason is not automatically on Lucia until Rockstar says otherwise.
- 02
The Keys are not a shortcut
An island chain connected by bridges looks fast on a map and rarely is. Where there is water and a chain of islands, a boat is usually the honest route.
- 03
Wetland is where things hide
Grassrivers is one of the largest natural regions on the map and the most navigable by water. In every previous GTA, the awkward-to-reach areas are where the collectibles live.
- 04
Pre-load early, and expect a large download
GTA V shipped at around 60 GB and grew. VI will be considerably larger, and on release day every player on the platform is pulling it at once. Pre-loading the week before is worth the shelf space.
- 05
Do not trust a date until Rockstar posts it
GTA VI has already moved twice. Retailer listings, storefront placeholders and insider posts have all been wrong before. The only date worth planning around is one on rockstargames.com.
These are informed expectations drawn from previous Rockstar games and from what has been officially shown — not claims about GTA VI. Anything we cannot source, we do not print.
