Where the date comes from

The 19 November 2026 date is Rockstar’s own, published on the official Grand Theft Auto VI site and repeated by Take-Two. It replaced a 26 May 2026 date, which had itself replaced an original 2025 window.

Two delays is a lot, and it is reasonable to be sceptical of a third. What is different this time is that pre-orders opened in June 2026 — publishers are considerably more reluctant to move a date once money has changed hands.

Platforms

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no confirmed PC release. Rockstar has historically brought its games to PC one to two years after the console launch, but nothing has been announced, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The delays, in order

  1. February 2022Rockstar confirms that development on the next Grand Theft Auto is “well underway”.
  2. December 2023Trailer 1. Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for 2025.
  3. May 2024Take-Two reiterates an autumn 2025 window.
  4. May 2025First delay. The game moves to 26 May 2026.
  5. November 2025Second delay. The game moves to 19 November 2026.
  6. June 2026Pre-orders open. Rockstar refreshes the cover art and logo.
