Every delay, in order

Grand Theft Auto VI has moved twice. Here is the record — what was said, when, and what the date became.

  1. 4 December 2023

    Trailer 1, and a year

The first trailer arrived a day ahead of its announced slot, after it leaked. It ended on a year and nothing more precise: 2025.

A year without a month is not a commitment, and it was not treated as one inside the industry. It was treated as one almost everywhere else.

    Target after this: 2025

  2. 2 May 2025

    The first delay

Rockstar moved the game out of 2025 and gave it a date for the first time: 26 May 2026. The reason given was the one Rockstar always gives, and the one that is usually true — more time to finish it properly.

The announcement came from Rockstar directly rather than leaking, which is worth noting given how much of this game’s history has not.

Target after this: 26 May 2026

  3. 6 May 2025

    Trailer 2

Four days after the delay, the second trailer. Longer, denser, and the first look at most of the supporting cast — six characters got official art alongside Jason and Lucia.

Releasing it immediately after a delay is not an accident. It is how you spend goodwill you have just used up.

Target after this: 26 May 2026

  4. 6 November 2025

    The second delay

The game moved again, from 26 May 2026 to 19 November 2026 — just under six months, and out of the spring window into the pre-Christmas one.

Two delays in two years is the number that matters now. It is not evidence a third is coming, and it is not evidence one is not.

Target after this: 19 November 2026

A date is worth planning around when Rockstar posts it, and not before. Retailer listings, storefront placeholders and well-connected accounts have all carried wrong dates for this game, and every one of them was reported as news at the time. Where the current date comes from.
